Happy New Years

Posted in This N' That on December 31, 2007 by swizzmis

New Year’s ResolutionsIt’s that time of year where we humans make a personal mark to end one chapter of our lives and begin anew. We do that with New Years resolutions. I’ve found if I play this game it turns from a goal setting objective in to a mental shackle. I become stressed and depressed.  But if it’s just a thought, a spark of an idea of what I want and go in to it with a ‘well if it happens great if it doesn’t oh well’, I get things done and move forward. What can I say-I’m strange? What I would like, on a non world peace and everybody be happy and healthy level is to read more in 2008. My TBR pile is overflowing and I haven’t let myself enjoy a good read in a while. I’d also like to finish two manuscripts this year and get them sent out to the big world of New York to see if anyone will nibble.  From there out it’s all about the journey with no road map and the courage to travel off the beaten path every so often. That’s what it’s all about anyway isn’t it?

Pleasant Valley Sunday

So yesterday after fixing up my office and doing 5 loads of laundry, I fell asleep in the lazy boy. There I was with pup on lap and zonked out for about an hour. Puppy was zonked too and didn’t look so happy when I woke up. But when I did I felt so much better, a little groggy but I actually felt recharged. Went out to dinner at fave Italian place with friends and then made a girls shopping trip to World Market. I know like I need anything else, but I wasn’t going for me. I found something anyway, a sea blue and green wall hanging thing that serves no other purpose than to look pretty and I bought it. I’ll take a pic and post this week along with the new desk. <g>. Today I have a lot of my list. I have to cut up the box the desk came in so it can be recycled. I have to write 5 pages of said novel in progress. I have to clean up a computer that I’m giving someone so they can go job hunting and be in general in touch with people since they no longer have company computer. Have to run out and get dog food, do some more writing stuff. Oh boy list goes on. Then there’s homework, yes from work but it needs to get done. Oh well off I go. Happy Sunday.

Ho Hum

Posted in This N' That on December 28, 2007 by swizzmis

Ho ho hum. Another Christmas once again has come and gone. My parents came out to visit and we had a nice time. The weather was great except for Saturday when the wind blew so hard it almost blew my mom over when we ventured to the dollar store. Santa was good to me – -I’ve already used up the iTunes gift cards and spent Christmas cash. I’ll tell you what music I’ve downloaded in another blog. <g> I also treated myself. At the dollar store I purchased a little battery operated water fountain for $10-. It’s so cute complete with sand, a candle and a little bamboo fountain. This item lead to my next purchase. When I set it up I realized I was out of desk space in my office so it’s sitting up on the printer. LOL I decided it was time to upgrade my desk to something bigger and better, so I went online and purchased a Trestle desk. Its craftsman style in antique white with A frame legs that hold four shelves for all my reference books. I can’t wait for it to be delivered. This worked out good because the box weighs 80lbs and if I purchased it in the store I’d never be able to unload it. Hopefully there won’t be a lot of cursing as I put the thing together. I’m one of the few people working this week and the building is scary without a lot of people there. But it’s nice and quiet. I really didn’t get a chance to write much over the holidays but as you can see my meter has gone up, 10 percent done and 90 to go. Happy Friday.

A Special HHT

I thought it befitting to save one of the best hot hunks for the final HHT of the year. Rob Ashton may look a little familiar to you. After all he’s graced the covers of many romance books since wining the title Mr. Romance 1995. Sadly he passed away this year. We’ll miss you Rob.

Wishing everyone a merry Christmas and a happy and safe holiday. Those of you flying, take a breath and just go with the flow. Those driving be safe and drive defensively. You’ll get there sooner or later.Hugs

Happy Holidays

Wow it’s getting so close to Christmas. But parents came into town yesterday and no problems. Weather was good, flights were on time, luggage came as expected. Wow what an easy day. Had a wonderful late lunch at the Cheese cake factory and we got some desserts to go. Bentley enjoyed his freebie after Dad dropped half of his cheesecake on the floor. Today I have to return something at Best Buy so Dad and I are going to brave the crowds. Mom the smart person she is said she’s staying behind.

Later this evening we are going out to dinner with neighbor across the street and having a nice Italian feast and favorite Italian place. Other than that, I think it’s going to be a very merry little Christmas indeed.

Love to all and hugs.

I just want to be sure this is the recipe you will be using today….. If you are looking for that special cookie recipe to share during the holidays, this is the one I make on Christmas Eve so I
can deal with the “family” on this joyous occasion.
TEQUILA COOKIES
1 cup of dark brown sugar
1 cup (2 sticks) butter
1 cup of granulated sugar
4 large eggs
2 cups of dried fruit, such as dried cranberries or raisins
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 tsp fresh lemon juice
1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts or pecans
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 bottle Jose Cuervo Tequila (silver or gold, as desired)

Sample the Cuervo to check quality.
Take a large bowl, check the Cuervo again, to be sure it is of the
highest quality, pour one level cup and drink. Turn on the electric mixer. Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl.
Add one teaspoon of sugar. Beat again.
At this point it’s best to make sure the Cuervo is still OK, try another cup just in case.
Turn off the mixerer thingy. Break 2 leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit.  Pick the frigging fruit up off floor.
Giggle.
Mix on the turner. If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers just pry it loose with a drewscriver.
Giggle again.
Sample the Cuervo to check for tonsisticity. Giggle some more.
Next, sift two cups of salt, or something, whatever.
Check the Jose Cuervo.
Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts. Add one
table full of that one stuff. Add a spoon of shuga, or somefink.
Whatever you can find. It all looks the same.
Grease the oven. Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over.
Pick yourself up off the floor. Try not to giggle, it makes the floor fall out from underneath you. Don’t forget to beat off the turner.
Finally, throw the bowl through the window, finish the
Cose Juervo and make sure to put the stove in the dishwasher.
